What to Include Before You Share a Service Post on Facebook
Before sharing a service post, read it as someone who has never heard of your organisation. Can they tell what you do from the first two sentences? Replace vague descriptions with a direct explanation, such as the type of repair you offer or the support your community group provides.
Add the practical limits of the service. Mention the area you cover, any eligibility requirements, and whether appointments are necessary. Where a date matters, include the full date rather than relying on words such as “tomorrow,” which can become confusing when a post is shared later.
Give readers one clear way to respond. You might ask them to message the Page, call during stated hours, or use the appointment option available on your Page. Avoid asking people to leave private information in public comments, especially when an enquiry involves health, finances, or personal circumstances.
Check the post’s visibility and its destination. Posts shared from a private group may not be visible to people outside that group. If you want information to circulate publicly, confirm that the original post is public and that sharing is available. Always follow the rules of any group where you intend to post.
After publication, watch for questions that reveal missing information. Update the original post when details change, and clearly mark a service as unavailable if it ends. Shared copies and screenshots may remain in circulation, so include enough context in each post to reduce misunderstandings.
